Client: Gayston Corporation
Project: Soil Vapor Extraction, Air and Ozone
Sparging System
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Contract Value: $219,000

Description:
A.S.T. performed all design, construction,
and installation services for a soil vapor extraction/air sparging (SVE/AS)
system to remove volatile organic contamination in soils and
groundwater. This SVE/AS system included one horizontal and six
vertical extraction wells and four air sparging wells. A.S.T. performed
initial testing and start-up of the system. We were also awarded a
contract for the monthly operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the
system. A.S.T. performed the weekly and monthly emissions sampling, in
addition to the quarterly groundwater sampling at this site.
A.S.T. also constructed and installed two
ozone injection systems. The system utilizes six ozone injection wells
(three with each system) and three monitoring wells. A.S.T. excavated
trenches and installed PVC conduit to house all air supply and electrical
lines, mounted each unit, connected all lines and installed each well
assembly. We also programmed each unit and performed initial testing and
start-up of the systems. A.S.T. continues to perform groundwater sampling
from the monitoring wells for this on-going project.

Project: Chemical Oxidant
Injection System
Location: Urbana, Ohio
Contract Value: $46,000

Description:
A.S.T. developed and installed the
system for chemical injection of potassium permanganate to chemically
oxidize solvent contamination at this industrial site. Approximately 30
injection points were initially installed as part of a pilot test. Results
indicated excellent (80 -95%) reduction of solvent levels at every
sampling location. A full-scale system was subsequently installed
utilizing a total of 310 injection points
